We all want to be passionate about our work, passionate about our life, passionate about our relationship, we all really crave passion!
Whereas balance is about boundaries, balance is about pulling back, balance is about protecting yourself.
Now there is another side of it, which is to say – why would we not embrace things we did? Why would we not approach things with gusto? Why would we not try to relish every moment? I think we don’t because we are afraid. We are all afraid, right? It is really scary. It is really scary, because what happens when we really try something, we really want something and it doesn’t turn out the way we wanted to? It’s hard, right? Really, that sucks. It’s awful.
But it’s okay! Because if we don’t try it, we’ll never know. It’s okay to be bad at something; it’s okay to be mediocre. We all think we should be remarkable absolutely at everything, because we look around, and among everything mediocre – we look at the best of the best, and the reality is – no, most people are not good at lot of stuffs. But if we find what we care about, and if we keep doing it over and over again, we get a little better each time. And if we don’t do something not very well, then we discard it and we move on. So it comes to trial and error scenario, which is to say that – we do fail. We do fail along the way.
But we have to start somewhere. So just start. Just jump in, just see where we go naturally, and we move towards the thing we are likely to be passionate about. And just stick with them. And when we fail, just pick yourself up and move on. And it will bother us somewhere the next time, and the time after that, and then won’t even notice it – that we did something that did not work out!
