We place a huge premium on “certainty”! We want to “fix” the future, in that process we start worshiping the outcome (right education, right profession etc.), rather than worshiping the fundamental (who we are becoming). Like everyone else, we start following the rules rather than following the spirit.
And then, we are amazed (and sometime jealous) by the top 99.99 percentiles in the world. Our limitations are not intellectual or physical – most of the time they are “emotional”. We forget – “who we are” is more important than what we already have/or proved to the world. Because, the potential of what we can do is – infinite.
What does it take to become an inspiration to the people around you?
Can you make a difference to the world just by unleashing the amazing and interesting side of yourself?
Yes, you can by living the right fundamentals. Any outcome is hollow in absence of them. The four key fundamentals of personal and professional living are:
- Sincerity – taking responsibility, owning up, following through, resilience and maturity
- Authenticity – staying true to one’s internal conscience, trustworthy, honesty, straight-forward
- Curiosity – passion, zeal and hunger for learning, wondering and inquisitive
- Humility – modest, clear perspective, treating others with dignity and respect
I call it SACH (Hindi word for truth) – a very fundamental framework of living. It is internal focused than external focused, hence keeps us more at peace with ourselves. Keeps us more level-headed.
Fundamental is the foundation. Outcome will follow. Not the other way around, if you are a leader who matters.
